BEAUTY - Colorful Lips Colorful Life

Hello summer! Sorry for the lack of posts, but I only just finished my finals and during those three weeks I didn't feel like writing for my blog at all. But everything comes to an end and so do depressing exam periods... Bye bye books, hello sun (hopefully)! 

What's summer to me? It's looking good, getting tan, eating outside and wearing colors! What better way to add a little color to your life than with a bold lip? Let me talk you through my favorite lipsticks. 

(Left above) So Chaud is an orange-red matte lipstick by Mac. I bought this one in Italy which makes me feel very summery every time I wear it! 
(Right Above) Russian Red is more of a winter lipstick but I love this dark-red matte lipstick so much that I wear it all year round! 
(Bottom) Fusion Pink is the last member of the family that I would describe as a bright pink with an oily/rainbow shine to it. I just got this one and have worn it almost every day.

BEAUTY - Kiehl's Blue Astringent Herbal Lotion

If I have to be honest, I don't like reading nor writing about beauty products. I don't care about how long a foundation is going to last or about which lipgloss makes your lips look like Kylie Jenner's. I used to be obsessed with watching beauty videos on youtube, but I guess I just got bored. Nevertheless, I'm sitting down today to give you a quick review of a product that kind of saved my skin. 

Before I owned this product, I used to coat my skin with rubbing alcohol whenever I broke out. Not the right way to go I guess, since it's a very strong product and stings in your nose and eyes. 

At Kiehl's they recommended me this product, a toner. After cleaning your face with your cleanser, you simply put a little bit of this toner on a cotton pad and apply it on the skin. You'll be so surprised of all the dirth that comes of eventhough you already cleaned your face with soap. 

I feel like this product makes my skin super clean and it made me get rid of oilyness and acne (I still break out, but way less than before).

BEAUTY - Kiehl's Centella Skin-Calming Facial Cleanser

Exams are over. Jazz music is playing. Coffee machine is working. Fingers are typing. I am human again.

After having spent way too much money on cosmetics that don't work for sh**, I thought is was time to spend even more money on cosmetics. I know some Kiehl's products can be a little expensive but it's just one of the only skincare brands I trust. And let's be real, if you know that there are face creams out there that cost $500, Kiehl's is NOT expensive. The service is on point, the packaging is beautiful and the products are great.

I was looking for a facial cleanser that would get rid of my oily skin and acne. The woman in my Kiehl's shop, recommended to simply try out a cleanser that would balance out and calm my skin, instead of going for a product that's meant to get rid of acne. She told me that if I would start using an anti-acne cleanser my skin would get too dry, and I would have to start using a nourishing cream that'll make my skin oily again and it would just become an endless cycle of dry and oily skin. 

So, I can't say that this product totally got rid of my spots and redness, but calming it is for sure! I've tried out a few Bodyshop and Lush products but they just made my skin look worse! I would get random white "toothpaste-looking" patches on my skin and it was just not looking good! 

After washing my face with the Centella Skin-Calming Facial Cleanser, my skin feels very clean, calm and 'safe'. I just know that this product will never break me out!

I would highly recommend this product to people that are scared to use any more skincare cosmetics because they just seem to make it worse. I would repurchase this product if I wouldn't know for sure that there is definitely something cheaper out there that works just as great.

THE FACIAL CLEANSER HUNT

I am always on the hunt. On the hunt for places to eat and people to meet. Now, I am on the hunt for something totally different: the perfect facial cleanser. 
I know this blogpost might not be everyones cup of tea and many people feel awkward talking about skincare, but I think it is so important to feel good about your skin. Having dry skin, oily skin, acne, redness, really affects your mood throughout the day. We don't want a bad mood do we? So let's get that skin on point!
I have to say, it is not easy finding products that work for your skin. It is an expensive project that will take a lot of time and many cleansers. But I'm willing to do what it takes to get rid of the feeling I get when I'm waiting for the bathroom at a party and look in the mirror and feel depressed because of the way my skin looks when it's lit by the ugly neon lights, parties always seem to own in their bathrooms.

The last few months I have been suffering from really bad skin. It might be caused by stress, puberty, sunscreen? I honestly have no idea... 

I have really oily skin which makes me want to clean my face three times a day. But that's not the right thing to do. I think twice a day is the maximum, otherwise you will strip your skin. 

I started looking for the perfect facial cleanser that would help me get rid of oily skin, redness and acne. I won't really go too deep into detail about the products I've already tried out and am trying out because I'm not quiet sure what they've done for my skin yet.  But I will keep you guys updated on the products I'll be trying out and what has been working for me.

Angels on Bare Skin - Lush 

This product is meant to make your skin look brighter. The only thing it did to me was make me get more acne! I was so disappointed because I know that many people love this product and I guess my skin is just to sensitive for this. Angels on Bare skin might just not be meant for people with oily skin. I won't be buying this product again.

Aqua Marina - Lush

This facial cleanser is supposed to reduce the redness on your face. I feel like, when I first started using this it really did help, but after a while it started to dry out my skin and I found myself with white patches on my face throughout the day. As if I hadn't rinse it off properly. I won't be buying this product again!

Tea Tree Cool & Creamy Wash - The Body Shop

This product is one that I bought because it is meant to get rid of blemishes on your face AKA all the things I am suffering from. The formula is very very agreeable. It feels like putting toothpaste on your skin so make sure you avoid the eye area. I will go deeper into this product once I've finished the tube. Because I'm not quite sure yet what it does to my acne but it does give me the perfect balance between dry and oily skin.

Effaclar - La Roche - Possay

This last product is one that will rather give you dry skin, so I will only recommend this for people like me with very oily skin. It is a product I have been using for years! If I'm having a breakout or something I always reach out for this product, it is not perfect but I know it won't make my skin worse. It makes me feel safe.

So this are the few products I have tried out, stay tuned for more blogposts about my hunt for the perfect skin cleanser! I will go into more detail once I've figured it all out.

LONG HAIR DO CARE

I've had so many people complementing me on my hair lately that I thought I'd share my secret with you. I started looking for haircare products not so long ago. I was tired of my hair just being "nothing special" and it was boring the hell out of me. On a scale from 1 to 10 how straight is my hair? I'd say a 50? Seriously, I have been struggling with it for my entire life. Most of my friends always had these beautiful curls and I've been dying to have a little volume too. The problem is that nothing is able to get a curl in my hair for longer than 20 seconds. My hair is so heavy that no curling iron is hot enough to make any difference. Even if it would, I wouldn't dare to use a curling iron every single morning because that's just very unhealthy for your hair. I would never have gotten such long hair if I would've been using heath. Enough about what I don't do and let me tell you what I do do. 

I wash my hair twice a week with Lush's BIG shampoo. I started using this because it contains sea-salt. I love how my hair looks during summer after spending a day in the ocean. The shampoo doesn't really give you very beachy-waves but it does it does a pretty good job at volumeizing and the scent is wonderful! The only bad thing about this shampoo is that it is slightly on the pricier side, but that's just Lush in general..

I don't use any conditioner since I've never found one that won't weigh down my hair. If you know a good one, you should definitely let me know, because the BIG shampoo does give your hair kind of a squeaky clean feel which leaves your hair quiet dry. 

I do brush my hair right after I've washed it but apart from then, I don't ever brush my hair because than it'll go all flat and it just loses all it's volume. How come I don't get many knots? Well, I like to braid my hair before going to sleep so it won't get all wild and when I de-braid my hair the next morning, I have suddle waves.

Another product from Lush that I love is the Sea Spray. I just flip all my hair over, spray some on the ends and I'm good to go. I've had so many people asking me what perfume I'm using and I just have to tell them every single time that it's the Sea Spray. Just make sure that you don't spray this onto the roots of your hair because it will make your hair look greasy. Et voila that's it! Yes, I've thought about following the trend and cutting my hair real short but I just love having long hair too much. I think that Jeanne with short hair won't be so me anymore.

LUSHING TO THE NEW LUSH

The word "Lush" will be used very often in this post

Yes! The Lush store has opened again and I was finally able to buy all of the skin-care products that had been on my wish list since the last Lush shop in Antwerp closed their doors. I was very desperate when the shop was gone for an entire month but I have to say that it was worth the wait and the new one looks a million times better! It looks way more Lush-like. I don't own many products from the brand but I did do a lot of research about it and I am in love! Before last week I had only tried out some of their hair products but I really needed to update my skin-care routine so I reached out to Lush. Lush is a cosmetic brand that fights against animal testing. All of their products are very natural and contrary to most cosmetic brands you won't find many weird "chemical" names on the packaging of their products because they try to use a minimum in conserving products and as many natural ingredients. In this blog post I won't be telling you much about the products I purchased because I haven't used them enough to really be able to tell what I like and dislike about them but I might go deeper into a product when I totally fall in love with it.
