Lunch in Antwerp | Mokkakapot

Mokkakapot might be one of the most colourful places in Antwerp. Although it's quite near to where I live, I had only been there a few times before.
I got bored of the having lunch at home. Although I think of myself as the master of hummus-making, I decided it was time to go and eat someone else's hummus elsewhere. I hopped on my bike and headed over to Mokkakapot.

About the interior...
As I said before, VERY colourful. It's a challenge to pick a table, because they're all so cute. You can sit at a large wooden table together with other people or at one of the vintage-school desks.

About the food...
I had a very hard time ordering only one thing of the menu. And this time it wasn't because I couldn't decide whether I was going to pick something healthy or not. I couldn't decide between one healthy thing and another healthy thing. There's a first time for everything they say... In the end I decided to go for the sandwich with hummus, beetroot, mint leaves, sesame seeds and honey. Hmmm... I'm craving one right now!

About the drinks...
I'm trying to drink less milk so I went with a regular coffee, which I normally find boring and a little too strong, but I have to say that I truly enjoyed this one! And it was not only due the pretty glass it came in...

I highly recommend you to go to Mokkakapot. You're missing out if you don't!

Lunch in Antwerp | Perruche

Friends are those who ask you over brunch if you're willing to have dinner with them. Friends are those who photograph your food because you're too awkward to do it yourself. A friend is Oona. Check out her website for more of her lovely work!

Let's talk about Perruche, one of the many places you'll find me sipping coffee.
Perruche might be one of the most popular bars in Antwerp for sandwiches, coffee and homemade lemonades. On saturdays their terrace is crowded with people who just finished shopping at the 'Vogeltjesmarkt' down the street.
Oona and I both went for a sandwich with goat cheese, beetroot and homemade chutney. It was de-li-ci-ous.

Another thing to love about Perruche is that it isn't only a coffeebar, but they also serve wine, cava and other lovely drinks. In fact, after I graduated I want straight to Perruche for a glass of cava. We leant our backs against their window, closed our eyes and enjoyed the sun.

So why Perruche?
Sandwiches, coffee, lemonades, wine, cava, sun, flowers and most of all very friendly waitresses!

Lunch in Antwerp | Biologisch Dynamisch Bakkerij

How can you not smile on your bike ride home after an afternoon of pastries, sun, friends and laughing until you choke on your coffee? I couldn't imagine a better way to start the holidays! It might only be one week, but I'm going to enjoy every single minute of it. According to my well loved Moleskine agenda, I will be going on coffee dates, dancing at a concert, having a girls night, visiting the university I want to go to, wandering around in Brussels, enjoying the first signs of spring and smiling a lot.
After school we jumped on our bikes, took our headaches and stomach aches (we might have taken celebrating the last 100 days of school a little to far the night before) with us and went strait to De Biologisch Dynamische Bakkerij.
I love this place because of the super friendly staff, not sweetened and not extra priced soy milk, biological pastries, delicious sandwiches and the sun shining through the window. Normally, I feel very awkward photographing in front of other people, but not this time. I always feel very comfortable and peaceful at the bakery because it's very quiet and you will never feel the pressure to leave.
On the photo above you see a cocosmacaron, a piece of cheesecake, a soy cappuccino and one of their many juices. There were also soy latte's involved but I stopped photographing because we got too busy talking about life.
Can we please make a deal? Let's all hold on to the sun very strongly so it won't leave!
Enjoy your week everyone!

Love Jeanne

Lunch in Antwerp | Kaffeenini

Let's just start this post off with wishing you all a happy new year! I hope you all drank champagne, ate lobster, admired fireworks, danced your butts off and gotten a new years kiss. And even if you haven't, we got 355 more days to catch up on that! Sorry for not posting anything in a week but I'll be trying to post more regular for the new year (every sunday). But let's not get our hopes up to high because I am one heck of a procrastinator.
I'll start my first article of 2015 with what I do best. Food-Talking.
I'm sure all of you who live in Antwerp have heard of this new lunchplace called Kaffeenini, founded by the owners of Barnini. (Click here for my article about Barnini)
I actually happen to like this place better than Barnini. I don't know if Kaffeenini is just more up my street or maybe I just like new places.
My friend and I did have to wait in line to get a spot, but it was totally worth it. We both had a cappuccino which tasted as lovely as it looked. (Gotta love coffee-art and colored coffee cups). Normally, I can't have a cappuccino with lunch because the thick milk makes me lose my appetite, but I didn't have this problem this time! Score.
Now for food, I went with the Simply B (Grilled bagel with cream cheese), and my lovely lunch compagnon (Mira) enjoyed the Deli Bagel (Grilled bagel with pastrami, pesto, parmesan, cream cheese and rucola). Oh god, I'm thinking about the melting cream cheese again. Time to wrap this up!

Can't wait to go back!

Lunch in Antwerp | Copper

The C is for cute, creative and cozy. The C is for Copper. One of my favorites to go for breakfast, lunch, a drink or a snack. The main reason I love this place is the interior. Everything looks so pretty and I just love leaning my back against that baby pink wall and having that major green plant tickling my ear while I'm eating my super healthy lunch. I would describe the place as 'up-to-date'. That might be because it hasn't been there for a very long time. I mean, everything is so... how everyone likes it to be nowadays. I am talking: Soy options, Bio bread, Bio granola, Fresh everything, hummus, coffee, tea, plants, marble table, pastel colors, jazz music and last but not least: reasonable priced! The lady who runs the place might be one of the sweetest persons who'll ever take your order. I wish I could just sit there all day every day. Unfortunately Copper is closed on saturdays, but that doesn't stop you from heading over there the next day for a sunday breakfast. I had a hummus sandwich and my sister went with the yoghurt and granola. For drinks we had a soy cappuccino and a fresh juice. Now that you've come to the end of this post, I suggest you grab your bike and head over there!

Lunch in Antwerp | Ottavio

This was my very first time having lunch at Ottavio. How did I find out about this restaurant? I was supposed to go and have lunch at this place I've been loving lately to take some pictures and blog about it. When I arrived it appeared to be closed. Such a bummer! I really wanted to get a blogpost up about a hotspot in Antwerp and above that I was really hungry, so we went looking for another place in the neighborhood.
We found this cute little pizzeria called Ottavio. I love pizza that comes in pieces, not only because you can have a little piece of every sort but because the dough tastes heavenly. When I was little I used to call it "pizza thick bread". Although I've been trying to become a vegan, I couldn't let this one pass me by! I did try to find a pizza without cheese, but oh well...
They also serve breakfast which is never a bad thing and another bonus is that everything is very reasonable priced for a student like me!
I'll be going back soon! Are you?
