FASHION - The Jumpsuit

Happy holidays everyone! I hope that you too have decorated a tree, dressed up, wrapped presents, unwrapped presents, visited family, stuffed your belly with lasagna, and over all just had the greatest time of the year. I can't put my finger on why exactly I love this time of the year so much, but I just had such a great and cozy week! Riding my bike through the streets on christmas day and just knowing that every single house is packed with families having christmas parties makes me so happy.
I think I might love family parties more than going out dancing. I know I sound like a grandma over here, but I just love to dress up and not having to worry about my shoes getting dirty or my dress getting ripped. Don't get me wrong, I do love dancing. And believe me when I say I go crazy when my jam comes on, but don't you just love the comfort of a warm home, family, free food and free drinks?
As a shorty I rarely find dresses that don't come over my knee. But when I saw this one hanging in Zara I thought I'd give it a try. I was very surprised when I tried it on and it appeared to be a jumpsuit! Apart from the waist being a tiny bit to large, this jumpsuit fits me perfectly! And at the end of the night, many bites and sips later, that extra waist space comes in very handy.
I love how the arms are covered but it shows a lot of the chest. But because that wasn't really family-party-appropriate, I covered THAT area with a bandeau from American Apparel.
The only thing that I don't love about this jumpsuit is that it is very hard to unzip. I made sure I had some family members near me to help me out whenever I had to visit the bathroom after a few too many drinks.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year!

FASHION - The Neon Beanie

Yes, another beanie. Yes, another American Apparel buy. What I love about this beanie is the touch it can give to a simple outfit. You want attention? Put the beanie on. Want to be invisible? Take it off. Simple as it is.
But, I warn you to not wear this beanie on a bad-face-day, since it draws a lot of attention to that particular area. I've had this pink beanie for over a year now and I might not wear it every single day because it stands out so much, but I do enjoy a little pink in my life from now and then.
Not feeling so "la vie en rose"? They literally sell these beanies in every single color! (An American Apparel local, would've known that)  I would love to get a beige one, but I don't think I need any more headwear! I swear, my next post won't be about a beanie.

love!

FASHION - The Optic Beanie

These are the days where I just want to roll out of bed, drink coffee, go to the park, and enjoy the beautiful colors autumn brings. Instead I have to go to school and try to keep myself warm in those ice cold classrooms. Ugh, how much I crave freedom! Only 222 days left Jeanne, 222 days.
Although I love autumn and winter, I just can not seem to find a way to cope with the cold. The only thing that keeps me warm are my dad's hugs. But since he has a life and I sort of have one too, he can't hold his little girl all day long. That's when I reach out for my beanie. I love this one by American Apparel, I wear it almost every day!

What's your way to keep yourself warm?

Love!

OOTD - 08/09/14 - The Lumberjack

Is it the bike? Is it the shirt? Maybe the shoes? For some reason this outfit makes me feel like I'm all the way back in New York City. I've visited the Big Apple two times in my lifetime and I'm planning on making that number a lot bigger! It's my dream to move over there and go write for a magazine or start my own maybe! But sometimes I need to "reality check" and realize that I'm only seventeen years old and still living in Belgium. So if we can't be in New York but want to feel as if we are, we dress like New Yorkers do. And that, my friend, is how I keep my days exciting. If you can't have that thing you want so bad, reach out for the things you do have. Dressing like a New Yorker makes me feel that tiny bit closer to fulfilling my dream.

OOTD - 01/09/14 - Back to school

New schoolyear, new month, new clothes, new beginnings. Even though most people make resolutions on new year's eve, I like to make mine on the first of september. I went to school with a big smile on my face and the thought that this year school wasn't going to bring me down like it did last year. So, even when we got our timetable that appeared to be just as shitty as my last one, maybe just a little bit shittier since I have to stay an hour longer in school on fridays, the smile stayed with me the entire day.
I don't know if it's the fact that this is my last year but I've decided to enjoy every single minute of it. In the future I want to be that adult that tells kids about how great of a time she had in high school. Even if this isn't your last year, please bare with me and let's make it a year to remember!

Vietnam - Photo Diary

What I was wearing:
Sunglasses: Miu Miu
Necklace: Topshop
Dress: Topshop
Flask: Tiger
Shoes: Maison Empereur
Before heading for Ho Chi Minh I was a little scared that spending three weeks in the same city would get boring. Never have I been more wrong. In this city exploring never comes to an end. Even in the small streets, you would never consider taking, you'll find coffee bars and restaurants. Therefor, getting bored in Vietnam is impossible.
Pancakes for breakfast.

Lunch at The Hungry Pig. I had a Wake n Bacon with a Vietnamese coffee.

Yesterday I went to Cho Lon which is basically Saigon's China Town. Every little shop is stacked with beautiful lanterns, paper goods, little pens and toys.

As a banana-lover, I had to try out this sort of banana-leave a woman was selling on the sidewalk. I am now on the hunt for the recipe.
We've been so lucky with the weather. It might be raining season, but we've only had rain twice!
We visited the zoo and had such a great time! Even the restaurant in the zoo looks lovely. I mean this is nothing compared to zoo in Antwerp. Also, the entry is so cheap!
The animals are so exotic and nothing like I've seen before, which made the visit very exciting and interesting.
Here you see a snake strangling it's catch. Never have I seen so many animals in action.

The apes were crazy. We even saw two little ones escape their cage.
I loved how every animal interacted with the visitors. This one for example showed it's teeth to every single passer-by. He/She looked so proud.
This ape kept "telling" us to throw him the plastic bottles we were holding. When the guards told us we couldn't, he looked at us very sadly. So cute!
We booked a vespa-tour to the Mekong Delta (a river in Vietnam). This was one of the best experiences I've ever had. If you ever visit Vietnam, I would definitely recommend to go on a tour with this organization. Get more information here.
The vespas were gorgeous and the drivers were such gentlemen.
They literally transport ANYTHING on their motorbike.

When we had a break at a local for Vietnamese coffee, we discovered this random set-up of washing products, a toothbrush and a chili pepper. I had to photograph this. Like, what is that pepper doing there?
They dropped us of at a local market. (cutest bananas e-ver)
The fish-area of the market.

Their attempt to escape.

The kids are so cute. The moms are always flattered if you like their kids. At the zoo I had a woman handing me her kid to take a photo. I couldn't stop smiling afterwards.
Beautiful colors.

A little snack at the market which was included in the vespa tour. We got shelves with peanuts on top which was amazing!
Not only did we get to see how incense gets made, but we also visited a temple, went on a ferry, got to see how rice-wine gets made, had lunch and so much more!
